Director, Enterprise Safety Training
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for creating a Training atmosphere that supports the overall strategy, management, reduction of accident and injury rates and execution of safety related programs and behavior across the Enterprise. They will ensure compliance with all DOT required training and will remain current on ever-changing DOT regulations. This position will have oversight of all facilities at the Covenant Training Center, including the operation of Hogan Hall dorm. This position will work cross-functionally with Operations to create a culture of safety that focuses on the training and development of our drivers throughout the business unit. They will manage, select, and guide a team of safety professionals to ensure best in class safety training programs, processes and procedures are in place using data and creativity. This position is expected to meet KPI’s that directly impact financial results.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and education of key strategic initiatives targeted at improving safety culture and compliance
- Demonstrate world class leadership and people management skills; and raise the knowledge of the group through training and continuous professional development.
- Lead implementation of safety industry best practices
- Act as the subject matter expert to ensure compliance with all Federal/DOT regulations as well as internal processes and procedures.
- Develop, implement and monitor company safety programs and policies.
- Develop, implement and monitor departmental KPI’s to further the vision and mission of Safety.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver messages to senior management.
- Effectively communicate with Executive Management through highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to comfortably work across organizational boundaries and geographies.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional organizations to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Responsible to help ensure 100% consistency across all Enterprise policies and procedures.
- Conduct annual performance reviews of direct reports.
- Consistently review ongoing safety technology to improve KPI.
- Consistently review driver analytics to improve KPI.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulations as they impact DOT Compliance of drivers and OSHA compliance of non-drivers.
- Ability to create, review, and implement safety training programs.
- Ability to work and communicate well with others.
- Ability to provide innovative safety solutions with process improvement.
- Ability to lead projects and influence others to obtain buy-in.
- Strong internal and external customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Safety/Risk Management or related field required. One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for every year of education required.
- Minimum of 5 years Safety Management experience required.
- Logistics/Trucking Industry experience a plus.
- Hazardous Materials experience a plus.
- Curriculum Development a plus.
- Experience in the successful implementation and championing of safety processes and procedures.
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring direct reports.
- Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment

- Pay Range: $104,883.00-$175,000.00
- Pay Grade: 14
