Captive Customer Account Manager
This position is responsible for managing a key customer account, ensuring exceptional service that consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations while driving revenue growth. Serving as the onsite representative at the customer location, the role strengthens communication, collaboration, and execution between the customer and corporate headquarters to deliver outstanding business results.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Coordinate customer transportation requirements and ensure service commitments are achieved.
- Oversee daily fleet operations to ensure safe, compliant, and profitable execution.
- Monitor equipment availability and fleet capacity to support customer demand.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize operational disruptions and maximize equipment utilization.
- Ensure alignment between operational requirements, customer expectations, and available resources.
- Coordinate with Sales, Planning, Carrier Sales and Fleet teams to ensure load plans are executed and customer expectations are met.
- Manage trailer pools to ensure adequate availability and proper utilization.
- Plan and optimize freight movements while balancing service, cost, and equipment availability.
- Monitor operational metrics, costs, and key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through enhanced fleet utilization and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all pertinent load information is gathered and stored within the system accurately.
- Research and record accurate service data to be used in presentations for internal reporting along with external reporting to customer.
- Solicit freight from assigned customer base in person.
- Monitor and report on customer commitments to ensure commitments are fulfilled.
- Ensure customers with drop pool locations have sufficient equipment to meet demand.
- Monitor and trace shipments to ensure loads are running on schedule.
- Provide proactive communication in the event a delay occurs that would affect meeting service requirements. Maintain data integrity in all programs while managing daily responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of truckload transportation operations and fleet management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
- Proficient in transportation management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or similar field required. 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- 3+ experience in the transportation industry required.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.

The posted range reflects the full pay band for the position. The expected pay range below represents where most candidates are hired, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Candidates with more extensive or highly relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the overall pay band.
- Expected Pay Range: $52,271.00-$59,458.10
- Full Pay Range: $52,271.00-$82,025.00
- Pay Grade: 8
