Fleet Manager and Driver Trainer Administrator

The Fleet Manger and Driver Trainer Administrator is a key operations link between the organization, drivers, and customers. The Fleet Manager and Driver Trainer Administrator will oversee a group of experienced drivers to achieve specific customer service and key company goals. This position will coordinate and communicate with customers related to the fleet activity to maximize utilization of drivers and company assets. This position will manage and coordinate load count growth, accuracy of information entered in the system, and improving quality of freight. This position will also act as a support role when needed with the Driver Training Program.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain positive and productive communication with drivers to deliver on time, prevent service failures, and reduce turnover
  • Receive ETAs and PTAs and manage throughout the day
  • Receive confirmations of load assignments
  • Develop an effective working relationship with assigned professional drivers and understand the needs and performance of each professional driver
  • Communicate and establish expectations for performance, conduct, and safety, and provide ongoing feedback for the professional driver
  • Monitor and trace loads so that follow up can be made to customers regarding late pickups and or deliveries, as well as any other load changes that may occur
  • Understand current market conditions to identify additional opportunities to increase margins.
  • Monitor service to meet customer expectations
  • Monitor EDI for any load tenders
  • Follow up with customers on any missed loads / service issues
  • Review turnover left by extended coverage to update customers on any customer issues
  • Data input for new hires
  • Coordinate seating of trainer and trainee each week with new hires
  • Assist with students signing paysheets and placed with a fleet manager
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for students and trainers
  • Track students driving hours and performance
  • Work with other internal departments to resolve customer or company issues when necessary.
  • Follow established procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Manage Driver PM Schedules for both tractor and trailers
  • Assist drivers with payroll needs, Advances, Fuel issues
  • Respond to all driver messages in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • General knowledge of U.S. Geography and U.S. Interstate system
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Driver HOS necessary
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and always changing environment
  • Ability to manage people effectively
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work unsupervised
  • Ability to handle multiple projects required and organize well
  • Bachelor’s degree or 1+ years equivalent experience in Business, Logistics, or other relevant area
  • Experience in the transportation industry, preferably in Fleet Management, Load Planning or Customer Service preferred
  • AS400 experience preferred

The system will be objective and non-discriminatory. 

Pay Range: $45,007.59-$69,574.81

Pay Grade: 7
