Operations Engineer
The Operations Engineer is responsible for maximizing operational efficiency, driver utilization, and service reliability. This role ensures that routing strategies align with company goals for cost control, safety, compliance, and driver satisfaction. By leveraging data and performance metrics, the Operations Engineer plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, enhancing on-time delivery performance, and supporting the continuous improvement of fleet operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintain and submit accurate daily operational reports, including the Estes Sheet and Daily UTEs.
- Track and manage lease purchase arrears to ensure financial accountability.
- Monitor hotel occupancy reports (Hogan Hall) to ensure accurate and timely support for onsite team members.
- Support the driver of the month recognition program to promote performance and morale.
- Track and follow up on earned time off (ETO) for professional drivers and communicate any delays.
- Accurately updated TMW and reporting with correct information.
- Confirm driver routing for expirations, maintenance, trade trucks, and home time.
- Coordinate and oversee random drug screenings to maintain DOT compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of student driver pay.
- Verify and process minimum pay guarantees to eligible drivers.
- Investigate and reduce instances of unknown empty moves to improve fleet efficiency.
- Oversee the proper scheduling and communication of preplans to drivers.
- Monitor and reduce non-productive Projected Time Available (PTAs) to optimize productivity.
- Facilitate smooth and accurate shift handoffs to ensure continuity of fleet operations.
- Track the number of trucks onsite and implement strategies to minimize downtime.
- Track breakdowns and PM services for tractors assigned to their fleet.
- Monitor fleet to identify and address inactive drivers, ensuring optimal driver utilization.
- Compile and submit assigned reports and attend all meetings as required. Ensure data integrity across all systems.
- Coordinate and manage ETO repowers.
- Communicating availability to planning and customer service.
- Maintain mileage goals for drivers and trucks.
- Create a culture of safety by keeping a safety-first attitude.
- Staying ahead of Safety/DOT Expirations to prevent them from shutting down trucks.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or similar field required. 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- Previous transportation experience preferred

The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $45,007.59-$69,574.81
Pay Grade: 7
