Payroll Support Specialist
The Payroll Support Specialist provides a range of professional and technical support to the Payroll Department. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity for all onboarded & offboarded team members with a high degree of accuracy. This position requires a combination of customer service and payroll special project management skills. This position may also work with state agencies and third-party administrators, run queries & validate results, and prepare reports.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to Payroll operations including data entry, file maintenance, preparing and generating correspondence, record keeping, etc.
- Maintain office coverage for incoming calls and emails.
- Communicates with all business units the procedures for handling and processing payroll data.
- Assist internal team members with payroll requests and withholding orders.
- Maintain department files/records as required by company policy and regulatory guidelines. Assist department to maintain records digitally.
- Process new hires and terminations in applicable payroll systems.
- Post changes and adjustments for pay, tax status, and company offered benefits in applicable payroll systems.
- Process JIRA tickets for all regular, temporary and contract team member changes promptly.
- Prepare, maintain and update departmental reporting and spreadsheets as needed.
- Assist with internal Payroll audits to ensure compliance.
- Calculates and manually prepares retroactive pay adjustments.
- Provides project support for new systems implementations, system upgrades, annual system updates, and system enhancements.
- Assists in preparing routine specialized reports at the request of a department or division; prepares periodic reconciliation reports as required by department or division.
- Performs consistent review of data integrity and makes necessary corrections as necessary.
- Escalates issues to appropriate level of management as needed.
- Develops training material and oversees team member onboarding of timekeeping platforms, and is the first point of contact to assist with inquiries.
- Works with Accounts Payable to coordinate vendor set-up and maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

- Organized and effective under pressure and accountable for results.
- Self-motivated with sound reasoning abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Experience
- Associate's degree in accounting/finance/business required. 1 year of equivalent work experience may be substituted for every year of education required.
- 2+ years of payroll/accounting experience required.
- Transportation Experience preferred.

Pay Range: $17.00-$26.67
Pay Grade: 5
