Senior Corporate Tax Accountant

Chattanooga, TN

Support the Corporate Tax Manager with all areas of the tax department functions as well as to identify areas of opportunities where we can take advantage of various tax credits. This position will also be tasked with preparing various reports regarding tax reports and data ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the departments reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file sales, property, and corporate tax returns.
  • Assist the tax manager with various tax credits and grants as needed.
  • Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports.
  • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in education opportunities, participating in professional organizations, and reading professional publications.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure tax implications are accurately reflected in financial statements and reports.
  • Facilitates tax audits, examinations and inquiries to resolve issues as necessary.
  • Identifies and limits potential tax risks and implements controls to maintain compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • ⁠Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GP, AS400, or other similar accounting systems.
  • Ability to apply tax law to a large scale national enterprise.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting/closing & reporting processes.
  • Analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. Equivalent years of experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 2+ years of financial accounting or tax experience required.
  • Prior experience in a publicly traded enterprise preferred.

  • Pay Grade: 12
