Fleet Maintenance-Groundskeeper
The Facilities Maintenance- Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep and appearance of outdoor areas, shop areas, cleaning and detailing Lew Thompson assets, etc. This role involves landscaping, seasonal maintenance, ensuring all grounds are clean, safe and visually appealing. In addition, the Facilities Maintenance-Groundskeeper will assist in other departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the upkeep and appearance of outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and exterior building surroundings.
- Mow, edge, and trim lawns using hand and power tools.
- Plant, water, fertilize, and prune trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Remove weeds, debris, and litter from grounds and walkways.
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers as needed.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf raking, and salting walkways.
- Maintain outdoor furniture, signage, and fencing.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools.
- Report any damage or safety hazards on the property.
- Assist with minor exterior repairs and painting.
- Detail and clean Lew Thompson assets-trucks, service trucks, etc.
- Assist with the cleaning and sanitizing of poultry transport trailers and tractor cabs using high-pressure wash systems, chemical disinfectants, and other cleaning equipment as needed.
- Safely handle and store cleaning agents and sanitation chemicals according to OSHA and company safety policies.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or deficiencies in equipment or facilities to the appropriate supervisor.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and adhere to company safety standards.
- Assist maintenance employees with housekeeping and organization as needed.
- Assist Shop personnel with part order pick up as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to lift, bend, and perform manual labor.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and chemical handling.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures without constant supervision.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (wet, hot, cold, noisy environments).
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscaping is a plus.
- Experience in sanitation, agriculture, or transportation industry is a plus.
