Regional General Manager
The purpose of the Regional General Manager position is to oversee the overall management, execution, direction, coordination, and development of distribution services offered to the assigned customers and their relationships. This includes developing and managing budgets, team member development, implementation and project management, system administration, warehouse management, and aid in customer growth opportunities. The Regional General Manager oversees the management and operational performance of two or more distribution locations within the assigned region.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist Director of Operations to establish and manage key internal and external KPIs that can be measured and monitored to determine success
- Hold team accountable for execution of internal and external commitments
- Cultivate strong business relationships with customers by providing data supported analytics to direct a clear understanding of current situations and drive information to support CI opportunities
- Assist Director of Operations to prepare respective annual budget for management review
- Monitor P&L monthly and make necessary adjustments to sustain profitability
- Manage team member talent pool and assist management team with development/mentoring opportunities
- Identify and record performance measurements to align with customers’ goals and/or needs
- Conduct current operational best practices reviews to assist in innovative development and CI
- Staffing and Labor management – adjust staffing levels in real-time based on unexpected changes in inbound or outbound shipment volume
- Reassessing team members to different tasks or areas to address bottlenecks or unforeseen needs
- Inventory management and accuracy – investigate discrepancies during cycle counts and determine root cause to implement corrective actions. Prioritize task related to inventory placement to maximize efficiency and flow through the building
- Safety and compliance – Ensure adherence to safety practices and policies for the company, customer, and OSHA. Identify and correct any safety hazards in real time.
- Workflow and Process optimization – Identify and implement small process improvements as needed.
- Quality control and customer satisfaction – Inspect products for quality issues and damage. Decide whether to accept incoming shipments and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and the customer. Address routine quality exceptions during order fulfillment to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

- Demonstrated management and leadership skills
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills
- Advance knowledge and skills with technology (WMS, LMS, Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, and Office 365)
- Vast knowledge of warehousing and 3rd/4th Party Logistics
- Ability and skills to assess and discuss operational performance in a business review meeting with customers
- Ability to create and analyze data for metrics tracking
- Ability to train and coach associates to ensure understanding of processes
- Ability to identify and perform continuous improvement projects Excellent customer service skills
Education & Experience
- B.A. or equivalent work experience in a related business (i.e. Public Administration, Finance, Logistics, Business Administration or related area)
- 5+ years of experience in Logistics, Distribution or Supply Chain management
- P&L Management experience, required
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification, preferred
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and customer ERP, required
