Advocate Driver Manager

Advocate Driver Managers are the lifeline of our most valuable assets, our professional drivers. They are responsible for assisting in a variety of driver needs but also managing and directing the work of professional drivers. Advocate Driver Managers are required to take actions or make recommendations with respect to discipline, terminations, and other changes of a driver’s employment status. This role is pivotal in driving the performance and professionalism of our fleet, ensuring drivers meet and exceed operational standards. 

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for professional drivers, communicating via phone, messaging, and in-person meetings to resolve issues and support operational success.

• Manage all driver interactions, coaching and documenting any issues.

• Provide corrective counseling and performance coaching to professional drivers as needed.

• Be available for efficient communication with drivers, and in-house personnel.

• Create a culture of safety by keeping a safety-first attitude.

• Communicate and establish expectations for performance, conduct, and safety, and provide ongoing feedback for professional drivers.

• Maintain accurate, swift information in all programs.

• Coordinate and manage the Driver of the Month recognition program to promote performance and morale.

• Ensure all assigned drivers maintain valid and appropriate endorsements and credentials.

• Monitor and manage idle time performance, ensuring assigned fleet meets or exceeds established targets.

• Facilitate smooth and accurate shift handoffs to ensure continuity of fleet operations.

• Conduct Idelic calls to review safety and performance metrics with drivers.

• Lead welcome meetings with newly assigned drivers to ensure a smooth onboarding process.

• Manage the unassigned driver sheet to help professional drivers maximize available mileage opportunities.

• Participate in and conduct safety coaching sessions with professional drivers to reinforce a culture of safety.

• Monitor Drivewyse speeding alerts to ensure compliance with safety standards and protect drivers and

other motorists.

• Track and analyze CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores, striving for continuous improvement in safety performance.

• Attend and actively participate in safety meetings to stay informed and contribute to fleet safety initiatives. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent ability to manage time appropriately and prioritize competing interests.

• Strong Organizational Skills.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or similar field required. 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.

• 2+ years of relevant experience required

• Previous transportation industry experience required
