Fleet Asset Intern (Summer 2025)

Chattanooga, TN

The intern will gain significant knowledge in the logistics industry and gain real-world business experience and skills that will prepare them for their future career. This role will conduct comprehensive audits, reviews, and analyses of operational data related to unit management, depreciation, maintenance schedules, vendor files, and asset utilization.

Responsibilities 

  • Shadow experienced professionals to gain insights into the industry and company operations.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with other department to achieve mutual goals.
  • Assist with developing best practices for company van fleet management to optimize asset utilization and prevent over/underutilization.
  • Audit and report on FAS depreciation, identifying non-depreciating units, units that have reached salvage value but are still operational, and any anomalies in depreciation rates.
  • Review equipment breakdowns to identify trends and optimize yard check work accordingly.
  • Perform root cause analysis on invoice discrepancies and develop SOPs to minimize future discrepancies.
  • Identify potential areas for improvement within fuel reporting, reconciliations, and other operational processes.
  • Obtain an understanding of various fleet maintenance software and how their use is integral to the operation.

Qualifications 

  • Ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team when needed.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pursuing higher education in business administration, supply chain, data analytics or similar field required. Junior or senior preferred.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory. 

Pay Range: $13.57-$18.55 

Pay Grade: 1
