Carrier Sales Representative I
As a Carrier Sales Representative you will work closely with our extensive network of carriers, as well as develop new relationships focusing on improving efficiency and managing transportation costs. You will source and procure the carrier services that will physically move freight for our clients. Top priority is ensuring timely pick-up
and delivery of customer freight while building and maintaining relationships with carriers. Masters of negotiation, you secure the best rates on a spot or transactional basis. You thrive in an ever-changing environment, taking a proactive approach in learning the pricing and capacity fluctuations in the truckload shipping market. Responsibilities:
- Source and procure carrier capacity to book and ensure execution of committed freight on a spot basis and or in the short term
- Negotiate rates with carriers on a spot or transactional basis to maximize revenue per load
- Cultivate relationships with carriers to establish long-lasting partnerships and develop Solutions’ service area
- Direct oversight of all freight responsible for in transit
- Initial Driver Information Request
- Follow Up Driver Information Request
- Initial Driver Visibility Request
- Follow Up Driver Information Request
- Communicate Load Information Change to Carrier
- Rate (Re) Negotiation
- Load Tendering to Carrier
- Rate Confirmation Follow Up
- Exception Check Calls for Detention, Breakdown, OSD, Delay in Transit, Overweight, etc.
- Services Check Calls for Lumper, Scale Ticket, Tarps, Reefer Temp, Safety Equip, B&B, Seal, etc.
- Preliminary Carrier Service Check to Verify Identity in RMIS or Carrier 411
- Initiate & Monitor New Carrier Onboarding Process
- Carrier Packet Follow Up
- Carrier Packet Follow Up Exception
- Carrier Compliance Rejection Communication
- Internally and Externally Communicate Decision to Bounce Carrier from Load
- Same Day Load Coverage
- Transactional Pre-Booking
- Inputting Carrier Offers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Driven and competitive nature
- Fast paced and able to multitask in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence
- Impressive negotiation skills
- Team player who can also produce independent results
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience
Competitive Compensation
Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $40,000-$62,129.60
Pay Grade: 6
