Weather Supervisor
The purpose of the Weather Supervisor position is to supervise KPIs, audit workflow, and provide training for Weather Coordinators and the Discretionary Driver Program in order to prevent weather related accidents. This may also include review and support of various truck-based safety technologies that are designed to directly or indirectly help prevent weather related accidents. Additionally, the position aids in monitoring for major weather events that could impact the company’s physical facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Support Weather staff in daily duties such as taking driver reports, issuing and lifting shutdowns, and routing.
- Completes Weather KPI report each shift.
- Prepares Weather Coordinator schedule for each two-week period and is a backup point of contact for schedule issues.
- Provides support and backup to Weather Manager to Safety and Operations Management. regarding weather program training needs for Drivers and office staff.
- Document and review incidents of drivers running through shutdowns and attempt to get trucks stopped in a safe location and submit to Safety.
- Attend Operations meetings to communicate weather, shutdown, and driver training information.
- Complete reports as assigned by Weather & SRG Manager
- Responsible for training seasonal weather staff
- Review and maintain weather procedures of best practice for weather staff training.
- Monitor and aid in maintaining updates to Weather Platform
- Review weather related accidents for root causes
- Support the reporting and training of Discretionary Drivers
- Monitors for and distributes company notifications regarding significant weather events that may affect physical facilities.
- Proactively communicates with operations on inclement weather advisories to avoid critical events.
- Analyzes and interprets complex meteorological data sets to make informed decisions.
- Responsible for issuing weather advisories and shutdowns that impact the movement of fleets.
- Supports SRG (Safety Review Group) in regard to truck-based safety systems that directly or indirectly are designated to reduce weather related accidents.
Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with little supervision in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Office 365, Teams)
- Ability to read maps and U.S. Geographical skills.
- Ability to learn applicable software for weather monitoring and driver communication tools.
- High School diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
- Prior meteorology, or other experience in the study/tracking of weather systems desired
- 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.
- Transportation industry experience highly preferred

Pay Range: $45,011.20-$69,576.00
Pay Grade: 7
